<p><font face=arial size=2><b>SPECIALTY</b>
<p>USD excels at selective interior demolition work and schedule critical removals at commercial and industrial facilities that remain operational. We have earned a solid reputation for performance at this type of work.
<p>These recent USD projects represent our specialty:
<ul>
<li>Removal of the entire roof structure of Chicago's Orchestra Hall directly over the Chicago Symphony's delicate acoustic ceiling panels that remained in place during the work.
<p><li>Gutting American Airlines' G concourse at O'Hare Airport of all interior finishes and utilities, removing mechanical penthouses and cutting large skylight openings through the concrete roof. Aircraft, passengers and airline personnel used the concourse 24/7 during the work.
<p><li>Turn of the century boilers and coal bunkers were removed from the basement of Chicago's five star landmark Drake Hotel without shutting down the hotel.
<p><li>Thousands of tons of production tooling removed for a critical product launch during a three day holiday shutdown at an automotive client's assembly plant.

<p><b>HISTORY</b>
<p>USD was started in 1980 as a specialty contractor that provided selective demolition inside historically certified buildings in Chicago. Services quickly expanded to include commercial buildings, industrial facilities and all manner and types of interior demolition and removal work. USD is now Chicago's premier contractor for specialty demolition.
<p>Building wrecking and asbestos removal operations were added in 1986. Of the thousands of structures USD has demolished, the Chicago Stadium demolition in 1994-95 remains the most notorious.
<p>Ownership changed in 1992 and again in 1997 when current owner, T. Harry Gieschen, acquired 100% of the company. Mr. Gieschen has worked for USD since it's inception in 1980 and began managing the company as President following the acquisition in 1997.
<p><b>OPERATIONS</b>
<p>Company headquarters are located five minutes from Downtown in Chicago's Bridgeport neighborhood and provide excellent logistical support for our crews working in the city.
<p>Field operations are run by USD's General Superintendent, Ignacio "Nacho" Miranda. Mr. Miranda has over 30 years field experience in the demolition industry and directs a labor force that averages 100 men daily. Nacho has been with USD as General Superintendent since it's inception in 1980.
